Because plastic bottle caps have the characteristics of strong plasticity, low density, high specific strength, bonding, high chemical stability, and various appearances, they are loved by more and more manufacturers and people. The material selection of plastic bottle cap molds has a great influence on the quality of the whole mold. Therefore, the principles of plastic bottle cap mold material selection generally have the following four points:
1. Fatigue fracture performance
During the working process of the plastic bottle cap mold, under the long-term action of cyclic stress, if things go on like this, it may lead to fatigue fracture. Its forms include small energy multiple impact fatigue fracture, tensile fatigue fracture, contact fatigue fracture, and bending fatigue fracture. The fatigue fracture performance of the mold mainly depends on its hardness, strength, toughness, and the content of inclusions in the material.
2. High temperature performance is better
When the working temperature of the mold is high, the hardness and strength will decrease, leading to early wear or plastic deformation of the mold and failure. Therefore, the mold material should have high stability against tempering to ensure that the mold has high hardness and strength at its working temperature.
3. Cold and heat fatigue resistance
Some plastic bottle cap molds are in a state of repeated heating and cooling during the working process, which causes the surface of the cavity to be subjected to tension, pressure, and stress, causing surface cracks and peeling, increasing friction, hindering plastic deformation, and reducing dimensional accuracy, resulting in mold failure. Cold and heat fatigue is one of the main causes of failure of hot-working molds. Therefore, this type of bottle cap mold must have high resistance to cold and heat fatigue.
4. Corrosion resistance
When some molds such as plastic molds are working, due to the presence of chlorine, fluorine, and other elements in the plastic, they decompose and release strong corrosive gases such as HCI and HF after heating, which will erode the surface of the mold cavity, increase its surface roughness, and aggravate wear and tear failure. If you want to produce high-quality plastic bottle cap molds, you must pay attention to the above four points in material selection, so as to ensure the high standards and high requirements of plastic bottle cap molds.
